I have a B.A. in Art History and International Studies and a background in the nonprofit sector. Through nonprofit work, I learned to be adaptable in fast-paced environments, often juggling multiple projects with competing deadlines, and also developed a keen understanding of balancing user needs with business constraints.
Why UX?
During my time in the nonprofit sector, I noticed there were systems and interfaces that could be further optimized for both staff and the communities we worked with. When I had the opportunity to work on some of these improvements, I realized just how much I enjoyed making things more useful, streamlined, and beautiful.
What now?
As a UX designer, my interests and values haven’t changed. What’s changed is the lens through which I approach problem-solving. I'm still interested in making resources accessible and elevating the needs of users and community members, especially BIPOC and historically marginalized people. But now, I want to do this through design.
I look forward to discovering new and transformative connections in the world of design.
